Beth Behrs is an actress who currently stars as Caroline Channing on the CBS comedy “Two Broke Girls.” Behrs started performing in theater at the age of four. She also played soccer while growing up and was a student at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA.
At 15, Behrs relocated with her family to Marin County, CA, in the San Francisco area. She began attending Tamalpais High School in 2001 and was accepted into the school’s highly regarded drama program. Behrs studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, going on to perform in the musical “Dangling Conversations: The Music of Simon and Garfunkel” as well as the plays “Korczaks Children” and Tony Kushner’s “A Bright Room Called Day.”
In 2004, Behrs moved to Los Angeles to study acting at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. She played Sandy Dumbrowski in a production of “Grease” at San Francisco’s Ray of Light Theatre in 2005, and in 2006, Behrs was named Miss Marin County. She started to audition for roles during her senior year and graduated in 2008 with a degree in critical studies.
Behrs clinched her first film role in the teen comedy “American Pie Presents: The Book of Love.” The film was released direct-to-video on December 22, 2009. Behrs starred in the independent comedy “Serial Buddies,” about an inept group of serial killers. The movie also starred Christopher Lloyd, Kathie Lee Gifford, and Artie Lange. Behrs shot the independent feature “Route 30, Too!” in late 2010.
Behrs began working in television by making guest appearances on “NCIS: Los Angeles” and ABC’s “Castle.” She was working as a nanny and at the Geffen Playhouse when she auditioned for the CBS sitcom “2 Broke Girls” in 2011. After seven auditions, she landed the lead role. Behrs stars as Caroline Channing, an heiress from Manhattan’s Upper East Side, who takes a job as a waitress in a Williamsburg diner after her father is arrested for financial wrongdoing. Her character is a Wharton School graduate who teams up with a cynical waitress named Max (Kat Dennings) in a business venture.
